“Thumbs down to Rep. Betsy Markey for voting for the supplemental appropriations bill for the occupations of Iraq and Afghanistan. That bill dedicates less than 3 percent of its funding for those two countries to humanitarian aid. This is far less than the 40 percent Markey recently said she believed was appropriate, and even farther less than would be needed to undo the damage caused by the invasions and occupations of Iraq and Afghanistan. Sens. Mark Udall and Michael Bennet also voted for this shameful bill. How quickly ‘hope and change we can believe in’ are morphing into business as usual in Washington, D.C.”
