Salon duc Tape - ""No Way to Treat a Child - October 14th

Israel's system of child detention and steps we can take toward ending it

This salon will be led by Tom Beilman, a retired program manager for Hewlett-Packard and a coordinator for the "No Way to Treat a Child" campaign. Last summer, Tom had the opportunity to travel to Palestine-Israel on a fact-finding delegation focused on Palestinian children who are detained under Israel's system of military occupation. Tom will provide basic facts about Israel's system of military detention, including the video "Detaining Dreams," a documentary featuring the stories of four Palestinian children and their families undergoing the ordeal of Israeli military detention. We'll also learn about steps already under way and gaining traction to help bring peace and justice to families who have lived their entire lives knowing nothing but the hardship of occupation.

Salon duc Tape, a public forum sponsored by Strength Through Peace, meets on the 2nd and 4th Fridays of each month from 7:00 -- 9:00 p.m. at the Fort Collins Mennonite Fellowship, located at 300 East Oak Street. Coffee, tea, and light snacks are provided. The formal program begins at 7:20. For more information, email Strength Through Peace, or call us at 419-8944.
