Salon duc Tape – Racism in Trump’s America – June 8th

June 8, 2018 @ 7:00 pm – 9:00 pm
FoCo Cafe
225 Maple St
Fort Collins, CO 80521

Just what is the alt-right?

At the salon on June 8th, Dr. Catlyn Keenan will provide an overview of the history of hate in America, outline the ideologies of the so-called alt-right, and then lead a conversation about racism in Trump’s America. We will consider the role racism plays in reinforcing existing power relationships in our society.

Keenan wrote her doctoral dissertation on American religion and white supremacy and continues to lead conversations about ongoing manifestations of organized racism. She has taught philosophy, religious studies, and women’s studies classes at Front Range Community College for 17 years. Her areas of specialty include religion and violence, religion and race, and gender and sexualities studies. Her first book, Strip: The Making of a Feminist, will be released on June 28, 2018. Her next book will focus on white supremacy.

Salon duc Tape, a public forum sponsored by the Fort Collins Community Action Network (FCCAN), meets on the 2nd and 4th Fridays of each month from 7:00 — 9:00 p.m. at the FoCo Café, which is located at 225 Maple Street. Light refreshments will be available. The formal program will begin at 7:10. For more information, email FCCAN, or call us at 419-8944.
