Join Us in Old Town Fort Collins as We Celebrate the Life and Legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr and His Call to Action!
he Dr. Martin Luther King Jr Celebration is one that brings our community together annually. While we have made a few noted changes, with no doubt 2019’s celebration will build upon previous years.
1st and foremost, this year we are asking our community to Be the Catalyst – 3 simple, but powerful words!
Monday, January 21st the March will begin in Old Town to the doors of the Lory Student Center Main Ballrooms where you will be graced with a musical performance. Shortly thereafter, we will be empowered by our keynote speaker. It is our hope that the day will create action where people will leave the event with a renewed sense of focus and purpose specifically on how we can daily disrupt oppressive systems.
To understand our individual and collective responsibility, we will then break into small groups to engage in conversation about topics ranging from affordable housing, the arts, interfaith coalition, education to food insecurity and much more as it relates to accessibility, equity and inclusion for all. In partnership with Homeward Alliance, there will be a couple of opportunities to take part in community service (before and after the March). This addition creates opportunity for you to Be the Catalyst even before the 21st!!!! Please consider donating the listed items below – main drop of location is the LSC Information desk (open 8 a.m. – 5 p.m. through January 20th click here for specific dates and times during Winter Break) or you can bring your items on the 15th).
