Election security is a critical piece to ensure our democracy. Find out how our election security has been tested in the past, the electronic election challenges we face as a nation today and what remains to ensure our presidential elections are safeguarded from foreign interference in 2020 and beyond.


Jeff Schafer  will be facilitating this salon. Jeff is currently employed as a cyber security consultant supporting federal agencies.  Jeff has 24 years of hands on IT experience, 3 as a private security consultant, 16 as a federal employee, 1 as a defense contractor and 4 years of Active Duty service with the US Army. Over the years, Jeff has worked across a broad range of government agencies in both leadership and support roles. As a defense contractor and Army Federal civilian Jeff has worked for various U.S. Army Europe and NATO agencies supporting both national intelligence and law enforcement IT support roles as well as an Airforce federal civilian at US Central Command J2 as an Intelligence Systems IT Project Manager. Before moving to private sector in early 2016, Jeff was a GS-14 federal employee working as a Continuous Monitoring Cyber Security Engineer responsible for researching, designing, deploying and training leading edge cybersecurity solutions across entire federal departments. Jeff holds many industry certifications to include GCIH, GPEN, CISSP, CEH, ECSA, ITIL and various Microsoft certifications. Jeff is also a former Signals Intelligence Analyst and Korean Linguist non-commissioned officer with the US Army and holds a BS in Information Technology
